Piers Morgan looks at his list of ‘Celebrities to Have a Twitter Argument With’ like the world’s worst Santa Claus and the on today’s date is… David Beckham?

Wait, why would someone have a go at David Beckham?

Well the Good Morning Britain host posted a Tweet in reference to a ‘The Sun Football’ article (bear with us) about Becks saying Arsenal fans are ‘disgraceful, no respect, attention seekers’ for wanting to get rid of their manager Arsene Wenger.

Piers Morgan, life-long Arsenal fan, jumps to the football club’s defence: ‘Says the world’s greatest living attention-seeker. Shut it, Mr Beckham.’

Aww that’s nice, he’s defending his fellow fans! No one tell Piers about this petition from Arsenal fans called ‘Force Piers Morgan to support any team other than Arsenal Football Club’ directed at our actual Government. That was sent to David Cameron.

Not everyone took kindly to the attack on David Beckham, with many sticking up for the football idol.

One user wrote: ‘he has done more for football, and his country than you could ever dream of. Get over it.’

To which Piers Morgan wrote: ‘Hmmm, methinks everything the Beckhams do is primarily designed to promote Brand Beckham.’

Another called him out on his own brand: ‘And Brand Morgan, that’s just grown organically, right?’

He responds: ‘Yes, and globally.’

Anyway back onto this very public Twitter argument about not liking one of the most popular celebrities in the world.

A few Twitter users are on #TeamMorgan though, with one suggesting: ‘He always ran & celebrated to the right of the scorer so his name would appear first when the picture was published #truestory’.

Piers added: ‘Correct, or jumped on their backs.’

Another said: ‘Don’t criticise Brand Beckham. It’s not allowed. For reasons I’ve never understood.’

Piers replied: ‘Haha, my sentiments exactly.’

Fair enough, no one has to like the Beckhams. But, um, just scroll through the comments on that Tweet for a bit.
