It's not been all smooth sailing for the famous couple...

David Beckham has been getting seriously honest about the realities of his marriage to wife Victoria.
Whilst the globally famous couple might seem to have it all on the surface, the dad-of-four admits that things have really tested their relationship at times and they’ve not always got things right.

‘Of course you make mistakes and we all know that marriage is difficult at times,’ David, 41, explains in a special edition of Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs.
‘It is about working through it. We have come up against tough times.’
Despite the struggles, David says that he and 42-year-old Victoria – who tied the knot back in 1999 – have dealt with issues by communicating with each other.
‘We know each other better than anyone else knows us. And we talk,’ the former footballer explains.
‘Do we stay together because it is a brand? Of course not. We stay together because we love each other and because we have four amazing children.’
Becks also credits the couple’s parents with giving them the ‘right values’.
It sounds like they’re also kept grounded by memories of their early dates too, which were far from glamorous.
David says that the Spice Girls’ manager Simon Fuller was keen to keep his relationship with Victoria a secret and so they would meet up in his bight blue BMW parked at a Harvester pub. LOLS.
So things are still solid between Posh and Becks and David says he actually has very few regrets about their relationship – apart from his outfit at their rather over the top wedding, though.
‘I even had a top hat in purple. What was I thinking?’ he jokes. Never mind, Becks, we can forgive you the odd fashion faux pas!
Clearly David is a very loving family man to Victoria and their children Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, Cruz, 11, and Harper, 5 and would miss them should he end up on a desert island.
But the sports star confesses during the show that he’d actually enjoy the little bit of solitude it would bring…
David Beckham’s Desert Island Discs is on BBC Radio 4 at 11.15am on Sunday 29 January.
